Expedition Guide
Expedition Guide
This booklet describes the Studio D ethos to running Expeditions, using the 2018 Short Walk Expedition to Afghanistan as a case study.
The expedition experience is designed to expose attendees to our field methods, including finding the right balance between ethics and hustle, negotiations, cross-cultural team dynamics, with problem-solving in the context of challenging and interesting environments. We provide briefings that cover the psychology of travelling to higher-risk environments, the fundamentals of wilderness medical care, well-being, and team dynamics. We also encourage attendees to share their own life and professional experience and to shape what the expedition becomes.
Given the limited local infrastructure, we have partnered with locals to provide, trekking guide and medical training to ensure our presence has a long-term positive impact on the livelihoods of the people and communities we engage. The purchase of this booklet helps support this investment—thank you for your support
